While you’re visiting Gatlinburg or Dollywood we highly suggest immersing yourself in nature with at least one hike in the Smoky Mountains! You can’t come to the Smokies without experiencing the trails this area has to offer. Whether you’re an experienced hiker or you’re a family with youngsters looking for an easy adventure, there’s a hike for you! 

Mount Cammerer

With a trail head just 15 minutes from Smoky Woods Lodge, this 11 mile round trip hike is well worth it for experienced hikers. This hike provides endless views and a fire tower to explore at the top! The elevation climb is 3045 feet with a difficulty rating of 17.5.

Clingmans Dome

One hour from the lodge, Clingmans Dome is the highest point in Tennessee with 360° views of the smokies. The trail is known to be an easy 1 mile round trip hike. 

Alum Cave Trail to Mount LeConte

40 min from the lodge, Alum Cave is known to be one of the best and most difficult trails as you hike to the summit of Mount Leconte. Roundtrip the hike is 4.4 miles with an elevation climb of 1125 feet and a  difficulty fating of 6.65.

Chimney Top

50 min from Smoky Woods Lodge, Chimney Top is one of the most popular hikes in the Smokies. Chimney Top is about 2 miles and provides incredible views. The elevation gain is 1,487 and the difficulty rating is 6.27.

Newfound Gap on Appalachian Trail

1 hour from Smoky Woods Lodge, Newfound Gap is a popular overlook. For a 4 mile hike you can continue on the Appalachian Trail (8 miles roundtrip) to Charlies Bunion. This route provides another breath taking view. Be careful of the steep drops!

Gabes Mountain To Hen Wallow Falls

10 Minutes from the Smoky Woods Lodge is Hen Wallow Falls, a 3-4 hour moderate hike to a waterfall in the Smokies. 

Maddron Bald Trailhead

10 Minutes from the Smoky Woods Lodge, Maddron Bald Trail is a 7.3 mile hike that passes through Albright Grove (3 miles in). The trail is often paired with Gabes Mountain Trail and Snake Den Ridge to create a long loop hike from Cosby Campground.

Mouse Creek Falls

28 Minutes from Smoky Woods Lodge, this hike is a moderate 4-mile roundtrip hike to the waterfall!

Cosby self guided nature trail

12 minutes from the Lodge, the Cosby self guided nature trial is about a 32 minute 1.2 mile loop.
